Quail...

This is after an image from Mimbres pottery. It represents a covey of quail, trailing along behind each other.

The Mogollon people took their name from the Mogollon Mountains in New Mexico. From about 200 B.C. until about A.D. 1300, the Mogollon culture flourished in the Mogollon mountains in New Mexico. The fifth and final period in their history, A.D. 1050 - 1300, is referred to as the Mimbres period. During that time they lived in multi-storied buildings, developed drainage systems, and also created some of the most beautiful black and white pottery. As with many of the cultures of the times, we are not certain why they disappeared.
